FAQ

Where are you located?

I am currently located at Pale Moon Tattoo- 2209 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, IN 47130

When and how can I book an appointment?

I have found that the best way to achieve a good work/life balance for myself is to book myself out 3-4 months at a time. I typically keep my books closed until the end of each booking period.

The next booking window will open Spring/Summer 2025. Please follow my Instagram or sign up for my email list for updates. In order to fill out a request, you will need to fill out the booking form linked under “book an appointment.” Any booking submissions sent outside of my books open window will not be considered, and you will need to fill out a new form when my books do open.

I keep my bookings open until I receive a sufficient amount of submissions, usually 24 hours or so. For booking alerts and other updates, please keep an eye on my Instagram account and sign up for my newsletter. Please note that booking is not on a first come first served basis– I choose projects based on what I think will align best with my skill set and the subject matter that I am interested in. I want you to be able to have the best tattoo possible, so if I don’t think I’m the right artist for your project I will try my best to refer you to another artist that may be a better fit. My bookings typically fill up quickly and I am not able to take on every project that is submitted, but I am so grateful to everyone who shows interest in my work and takes the time to go through the process.

What projects are you interested in taking on?

I require lots of creative freedom throughout the design process. I feel that my work is at its best when there aren’t many artistic constraints, and I want to make sure you are getting the best tattoo that you possibly can. I am very interested in ornamental, geometric, illustrative, and botanical designs. Animals, bugs, skulls, mushrooms, daggers, etc. are all also concepts that I am always excited to tattoo.

I gravitate towards ideas that do not include a large amount of different elements- usually simpler concepts allow me to add more detail and result in a more readable and impactful tattoo design.

I love creating larger scale designs that flow with and compliment the shape of the body, but I have a blast creating smaller tattoos as well. I am also open to other ideas outside of what I have listed, so please don’t be afraid to shoot me an email or a message on Instagram to run your idea by me! Please note that I am not currently taking on any color tattoos, I work in black and grey only.

During this booking period, I would love to take on some large scale floral, ornamental, animal (especially bugs birds and snakes!), and lady face designs. While I tend to lean heavily on organic and ornamental, I’m always down to hear any ideas!

Do you do cover ups?

I consider cover up projects on a case by case basis. I typically only take on very small cover ups- my style relies heavily on negative space, which is not ideal for trying to obscure larger tattoos. It’s always worth a shot to ask, and if I don’t feel that I would be well suited for your project I will do my best to send you over to a different artist who may be a better fit!

What is your rate?

The overall cost of your tattoo will vary based on sizing, detail, and placement.
NEW ALBANY, IN rates: Starting in July of 2023, I will be moving towards a $900 full day (12pm-6pm). Any additional tattoo time will be priced at $150 an hour. All smaller scale work will be priced by the piece. I will try my best to give a wide price range when we schedule your appointment, but please note this can change if the size/location of your tattoo changes from what was originally discussed. Existing clients, please note that this new rate does not apply to ongoing projects that we have started before July 2023- if you have started a multiple session piece with me, it will stay at the rate that we agreed upon when we booked your first appointment.
Travel rates vary based on location.

Tell me about your flash!

I am currently working on building up my library of repeatable flash designs. These will be priced at a flat rate, but can be subject to change based on size and placement. I am going to be continuing to add ideas as time goes on. Please note that these designs will be repeated on multiple clients and will be marked as such.  I will be posting this flash as I make it in my Instagram highlights!

Can I see my design before my appointment?

I do not send designs before appointment dates, and require lots of trust from my clients during the design process. At the beginning of your appointment, I will show you your design and you will have the opportunity to make small changes to your tattoo. Larger changes will require a reschedule.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Please feel free to bring a guest with you, but I do ask that you limit it to one person.

What is your deposit policy?

For full day sessions, I will take a $200 deposit per scheduled appointment that goes back into the total cost of your tattoo. Shorter sessions will require a $100 deposit. This deposit is non refundable. Cancellations/reschedules/no shows within 48 hours of your appointment will result in a forfeit of your deposit, and you will need to make a new deposit in order to schedule a new appointment. I allow up to two reschedules for your appointment, I will require a new deposit if there is a third reschedule.

I give clients up to a 15 minute grace period for being late, after that you are considered a no show and will need to make a new deposit to reschedule your appointment. If unforeseen circumstances arise that will delay your arrival to the shop, reaching out to me over Instagram or email is the best way to let me know-I am pretty flexible with this as long is there some communication on your end about being late.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

Make sure you are well rested and hydrated, and eat a decent meal prior to your appointment.

Please bring two forms of ID (any card that has your name on it will suffice as a second ID, such as student ID, debit/credit cards, etc.) with you. For longer sessions, I highly recommend bringing a snack or two- in my experience I’ve found that it makes a world of difference for pain tolerance! We have coffee, tea, and water available at the shop, but feel free to bring your own drinks if you’d like.

You are welcome to bring headphones, books, etc to keep you entertained during your session as well.

Can I use numbing cream?

I am no longer allowing clients to use topical pre-tattoo numbing cream. Client safety is the most important part of this process, and numbing cream adds an unknown variable that I am no longer comfortable messing around with- please see this article for more info:

https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-warns-consumers-avoid-certain-topical-pain-relief-products-due-potential-dangerous-health

I liberally apply bactine during our session, and pain management is always a priority. I am happy to take as many breaks as you need, or to break up appointments into shorter sessions, so please let me know if this is a concern for you!

Can  I get tattooed while I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

I do not tattoo people who are pregnant or breastfeeding under any circumstances.
